Most Researchers into modeling steel reinforcement and steel structures routinely use the Mathematical Model of “Menegotto & Pinto” – available in most structural software for Seismic Analysis of Structures.
Professor Paolo Pinto has been a towering figure in Earthquake Engineering. Unfortunately, he left us recently. To commemorate his passing, we repost here the announcement of the European Centre for Training and Research in Earthquake Engineering, EUCENTRE Foundation, Pavia (LinkedIn Post).
The Eucentre Foundation expresses its deepest condolences on the passing of Paolo Emilio Pinto, former Full Professor at La Sapienza University of Rome and an international authority on earthquake engineering.
A promoter and supporter of the ROSE School since its inception, he contributed significantly to consolidating its ambition and global reputation, training generations of engineers and researchers through a method based on rigour, transparency and responsibility.
His scientific legacy, from nonlinear modelling and the contribution of the Menegotto–Pinto model, to the development of probabilistic approaches for risk and safety assessment of infrastructure and bridges, will remain a reference point for the entire community.
The President, Director, researchers, and the entire staff of Eucentre extend their deepest sympathy to his family, colleagues, and students worldwide.
